By looks of the pic, I would think a paronychium infection primarily. DD could be irritated Heberden's nodule. I would treat with NSAID, Coban wrap, or buddy tape, or pre-fab stack splint, immobilize x 1 week. |

A paronychia;staph infection that entered through a hangnail.It involves the fold of soft tissue around the fingernail. |
